We&amp;#039;ve had a number of requests to increase the &amp;#034;primary&amp;#034; and &amp;#034;secondary&amp;#034; lists.     <summary type="html">Why is &lt;b&gt;Access Services &lt;/b&gt;or &lt;b&gt;Interlibrary Loan &lt;/b&gt;or even &lt;b&gt;Resource Sharing &lt;/b&gt;NOT listed as options for Primary Role or Secondary Role on the registration page!?!?!?  Yea OK so I can add it as Other, but that kinda defeats the purpose of a Controlled Vocabulary.  I&amp;#039;m assuming these Roles will help find and connect with other librarians doing the same work.  That will only happen if we use the same terminology to describe what we do.</summary>

Read on...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As you probably know, we have multiple instances of WebJunction &amp;#040;The main site, sites for our state partners, a site for admin use, etc&amp;#041;. Some of these have access restricted to specific populations. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Right now, the logic that generates our Activity feeds shows you &lt;i&gt;all&lt;/i&gt; the activity of your friends, no matter where they are posting &amp;#040;such as Jennifer&amp;#039;s post on a Partner admin site&amp;#041;. This is behavior is confusing because members will often see links they may not have access to. And then when they try to click the links, members see the behavior you experienced &amp;#045;&amp;#045; a redirection to the public profile.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know this is a jarring experience. It&amp;#039;s especially frustrating for us because it hits hardest the folks who are using the updates portlet just the way we intended &amp;#045;&amp;#045; as a community discovery tool!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The good news is that we have identified a fix and are prioritizing with other profile items in our next development cycle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We&amp;#039;ll keep you posted.</summary>

It&amp;#039;s a matter of choices, I&amp;#039;m afraid, with the current architecture riffing off of personal connections &amp;#040;a la Facebook, etc.&amp;#041; rather than abstracted interests &amp;#040;arranged as trees, more or less&amp;#041;.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But you know that only too well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I can see how to do both, but having the base structure in trees simplifies things ... the &amp;#034;personal connections&amp;#034; become a &amp;#040;very local&amp;#041; facet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;#040;You&amp;#039;ll have me channelling Ranganathan soon here ....&amp;#041;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Charles Roth, who writes/owns Caucus, has been working with another company that provides a rather broader arrays of tools:  http://www.q2learning.com/&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bill Bruck is the president.     <summary type="html">Thanks to the pointer to Caucus, Bob. I had seen it briefly a couple years ago &amp;#045;&amp;#045; it looks like they&amp;#039;ve continued improving it. The University of Washington has a similar &amp;#040;probably less sophisticated&amp;#041; tool for online learning/communication. It sometimes came up a little shy in the feature department, but was a rock solid tool for conversations with classmates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I appreciate how Caucus folks allude to the complexity inherent in adding things like a CMS &amp;#040;and LMS&amp;#041; to the mix. We&amp;#039;ve done some really great stuff integrating those essential systems on the Next WebJunction platform&amp;#059; we just need to rejigger the machine to bump up discussion/group discoverability a bit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Piece of cake, right? &lt;img alt='emoticon' src='http://me.webjunction.org/webjunction-theme/images/emoticons/glare.gif' /&gt;</summary>

    <summary type="html">Hi Kathy,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since the lion&amp;#039;s share of the content is applicable to Public Libraries, the Library Type section was to create a space specifically for other types of libraries.
